Description
MOTION Footpeg Spindles
Engineered to take the hit so your ride doesn’t have to, MOTION Footpeg Spindles are purpose-designed to bend, rather than break the whole peg, under major impacts. Made from materials with high fatigue resistance, they absorb abuse without compromising the more expensive platform component of your footpeg setup.
Rather than trashing an entire footpeg after a crash, simply bend the spindle back into shape and get back on the trail. This design makes maintenance more affordable, efficient, and rider-friendly. Keeping a spare spindle in your pack is a lightweight, low-cost insurance policy against ride-ending failures.
Why They Bend (and Why That’s a Good Thing)
MOTION’s approach is intentional:
- The spindle is designed to fail first, protecting the platform you stand on.
- A wrench or adjustable wrench is all you need to bend it back into place — no hammering required.
- A long-handled tool or pipe for added leverage makes the job even easier.
Installation Best Practices
Proper installation is key for optimal performance and safety:
- Always use a high-strength threadlocker on the threads.
- Vibra-Tite 541 or Loctite® 680 Retaining Compound.
- This creates a permanent bond that may require heat to remove.
- Spindles feature a nylon insert thread-lock system to prevent vibration-based loosening.
- Torque spec: 40 ft-lbs using a 14mm wrench.
- If removed, threadlocker must be reapplied before reinstallation.
Designed to Be Rebuilt, Not Replaced
MOTION Footpegs are fully rebuildable, aligning with a more sustainable and performance-oriented approach to off-road gear.
- Service every 40 hours of use: inspect hardware, re-grease spindle axles, and replace bushings as needed.
- Ideal for riders who value maintenance over disposability.
Material Options
Choose the spindle material that matches your riding needs:
- Grade 5 Titanium: Lightweight, extremely strong, and corrosion-resistant for high-performance builds.
- Chromoly Steel: Tough, fatigue-resistant, and tested to meet our industrial-grade failure standards.
Note: Spindles are considered wear items and are not covered under our lifetime warranty.
